Unreality Zone

Took a tour of the land that is Second Life. This virtual world is a fun place to explore and chat with your fellow virtual peeps. I had fun making my avatar and designing his clothes. You can make your own toys and even build a house. One thing they need there is a Mail Art museum. If you choose to visit (it's free) then please IM me: Kiyotei Xi and let's have a drink in the Moonshine Casino. Click the image to see my avatar chilling downstairs in the club . . .

Mail Art at Flickr

Haven't been on Flickr.com for a while and I must say I'm impressed. Lots of new features to play with. I like the interface which allows you to jump from profile to photo to group and it helped me make some great contacts.

You can also tag your images and post them to del.icio.us with a single click!

I was able to hook-up with some folks I know from around the net and I set up four ATC and Artistamps swaps.

I also uploaded some of my ATCs, photos and artistamp designs for your perusal.

From the Blog Lab

Young Scientist Sam is back! This techno-savvy mailartist from Spokane, WA has been busy with life and out of the network for a few years, but he's back in touch with a killer blog. Check out his great resource: Mailart.org and don't forget to feast your eyes on the mailart calls list with over 239 projects (ongoing and with a deadline). So get busy and send some art to a networker somewhere in the world.

Too Old To Be Doing A Zine

Received Phantom Conversation #8 from Rick Yates of Longview, Washington. This publication is chock full of deep conversations and age old questions like " Is punk philosophy compatible with art?" This prankster DJ says he's too old to put out a zine and if you check out his Myspace page, you'll read that he only sends these zines (and I quote) "to people who don't want it... It's my way of saying, "UP YOURS" to all the people that won't pay attention to me."

I guess I'm on his sh*t list because I think this is the 2nd issue I've received and I haven't replied yet. I intend to rectify that today by sending out a batch of useless ephemera to him today.

If you want to participate in the Phantom Conversation, send something (a photograph, a poem, a drawing, a collage, a book or music or movie review, a drunken rant on audio cassette) and if he likes it, your item just might end up in the next issue.

More Viral Infections

Sent out my sixth set of ATC documentations for the Virii Mail Art Swap last month.

Today I received two more submissions:

The card on the left is from Rael Mail of Holland and the second card is from Szanto Andras of Budapest Hungary. Both ATCs were created using a fine point pen and the card from Szanto is partially done in watercolor.

This brings the total of individual cards received for this ongoing call to: 310 from 10 countries.

If you are not familiar with ATCs (Artist Trading Cards), you can learn all you ever want to know from this directory.

You can also view more of Rael Mail's fine art here.
